A late comeback kept the Yakima Pepsi Beetles undefeated in the Firecracker tournament Friday night at Parker Faller Field.

Ryker Heeringa scored to tie the game in the fifth inning and Nathan Kibbe's RBI single in the sixth brought home Yakima's Andrew Roy for the go-ahead run on the way to an 8-6 win over the Northeast 49ers. Roy delivered a 2-for-4 performance and JayJ Gallegos allowed just one unearned run in three innings to close out the Beetles' third straight win.

One day after two run-rule wins, Yakima jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the second inning thanks to a Blake Gibbons two-run single and Roy's RBI double. The Beetles overcame eight errors by stranding 49ers baserunners in scoring position every inning except one.

Yakima (13-17) will conclude group play at its home tournament Saturday night against the Kelly Brady Bagpipers.

Pak comes up short

BELLEVUE 鈥 The 黑料福利社 Pepsi Pak struggled to take advantage of its scoring opportunities in a 3-1 loss to Lakeside at the Brandy Pugh tournament Friday night.

Alex Morales recorded three of the Pak's nine hits, including a leadoff double in the top of the seventh. But two strikeouts followed by a ground ball to second base left him stranded and meant 黑料福利社 finished the game 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Three hits and a passed ball gave the Pak its lone run on a Bodie Yale infield single in the fifth inning, cutting the lead to 2-1. 黑料福利社 (18-9) will stay in Bellevue to face Mudville NW and the NW Star Mavericks on Saturday.

Pak highlights: Alex Morales 3-4, 2b.

Five different pitchers for the Pippins (17-17) gave up at least one run a day after they held Ridgefield to two runs to complete their first sweep of the season. 黑料福利社 (17-17) fell back to .500 heading into Saturday's game at Walla Walla.
