KENNEWICK聽鈥 The Yakima Diamond Cats fastpitch softball team repeated as champions at the National Softball Association Washington State Championships in Kennewick on Sunday.

The Diamond Cats won all six games in the double elimination 18U bracket, capped off by a 10-2 win over Kennewick's Washington Angels for the title. Elise Heater threw a no-hitter against the Washington Avengers in the quarterfinals and combined with East Valley teammate Brooklynn Root and West Valley's Ainsley Johnson to hold opponents to a .145 batting average with a combined ERA of 0.90.

Root contributed a team-high eight hits and Wenatchee Valley signee Madi Statler, a West Valley graduate, hit .538. Naches Valley's Lilli VanWagoner posted a .417 batting average while catching every game.

The rest of the Diamond Cats roster included West Valley's Danika Gaethle, Calleigh Sinnes,聽Ashleigh James and Lauren Lewis, East Valley's Sophiya Castaneda and Leila Cook, Cascade of Everett's Kodie Rasmussen and Graham Kapowsin's Abby Volk. Jeremy Sinnes, Rigo Castaneda and Casey Johnson served as coaches.

Central wins 3 GNAC academic titles

Central Washington volleyball, women's basketball and women's soccer all won GNAC academic team titles, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

The Wildcats tied Montana State Billings as the school with the most champions thanks to a 3.71 GPA for the volleyball team, which also won the league title on the court, a 3.73 GPA for the women's basketball team that reached the West region final, and a 3.80 GPA for soccer, the best mark for any GNAC team.

Central athletics finished fifth overall out of 10 teams.

Mike Archer at QB Club

Mike Archer, manager of the 黑料福利社 Pepsi Pak and Selah High School baseball team, will be the featured guest at next week's Monday Morning Quarterback Club luncheon.

The meeting starts at 11:45 a.m. Monday in the Players Club Lounge at Suntides Golf Course. Lunch service is available, and the public is invited.
